WHAT DO I WIN?
Besides bragging rights, you will also walk away with your very own Board Game, a crown, a drink card for the venue and entry into the End of Year (2021) Champions Showdown, at which you can win $500 cash, another crown and a sash!!
Board Game Championships is a knock out tournament. There are 4 - 5 rounds. The game changes each round and are not necessarily the same from one championship to the next. The winner of the game goes through to the next round until there is only 1 winner left.
Championships held in Melbourne, will adhere to current government regulations while they are in place including (but not limited to) remaining seated through-out the evening, carefully managing shared spaces and maintaining hygiene standards and attendance records.
CAN I EAT AND DRINK WHILE I PLAY?
Yes. There are breaks in between rounds so you have a chance to order and go to the toilet. Once you are knocked out you can still join the other spectators and eat and drink as you like.
WHAT ARE THE RULES?
Check out our Games page here. It lists all of the possible games and has a link to the official rules. You must familiarise yourself with the official rules of each game. We will play by those rules and judges decisions are final.
WHAT HAPPENS WHEN I GET KNOCKED OUT?
When you're out you can still watch the other players and have a drink or a snack while you wait for your friends.
I THINK SOMEONE IS CHEATING
We have a zero tolerance for any sort of cheating. If you get caught cheating you will be thrown out of the room by a cartoon gorilla, just like this.
CAN I BUY A TICKET AT THE DOOR?
With current restrictions in place we need to manage our capacities so tickets will need to be pre-booked online. Ticket sales will close 2 hours before the event starts. In an effort to limit contact, the events are cashless. Subscribe below for great offers and discounts!
HOW DO YOU SOCIALLY DISTANCE?
The games are played fully seated and socially distanced. Cashless transactions are encouraged at the bar to limit contact. We will work with venues to adhere to their regulations, but further to that we will register attendants on arrival, supply hand sanitiser and wipes. All board game pieces are single use only or will be sanitised between uses.
CAN I BRING MY CHILDREN?
At this stage Board Game Championships are 18+ but subscribe below for dates of upcoming BGC for Kids events.
